Pete Carroll, Bill Belichick Will Make NFL History On Sunday

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick and Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll will make NFL history on Sunday, thanks to their respective old ages.
Carroll, 69, and the Seahawks will host Belichick, 68, and the Patriots on Sunday. Their combined age is 137 years, which marks the oldest coaching matchup in NFL history, according to the NFL's research department.
Neither Belichick's or Carroll's old age is slowing either down. Belichick, despite losing Tom Brady to Tampa Bay during the off-season, is chumming right along with Cam Newton at quarterback. Meanwhile, Carroll is hoping to win one more Super Bowl with Russell Wilson behind center.
The two legendary head coaches will tee-off this Sunday as the Seahawks host the New England Patriots at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC.
"Pete Carroll, the Seahawks’ 69-year-old head coach, will play host to Bill Belichick, the Patriots’ 68-year-old head coach," writes Pro Football Talk. "The combined age of 137 years makes this the oldest coaching matchup in NFL history, according to the NFL’s research department."
Sunday's winner will move to 2-0 while the other drops to 1-1. New England can afford a loss considering the AFC East Division's winner may just need nine game to win the division title.
But in the NFC West, the winner might need as many as 12 games to win the division. The Seahawks can maintain its division lead with a win on Sunday.
Belichick and the Patriots will look to out-duel Carroll and the Seahawks this Sunday at 8:20 p.m. ET.
