Earl Thomas has been linked to the Dallas Cowboys ever since his exchange with Jason Garrett in 2017. Even though reports state that Thomas will not be heading to the Lone Star State, it's still possible that a deal gets done before the start of the season.
At this moment, the Cowboys will rely on Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and Xavier Woods to lead their secondary. That's not a bad safety duo by any means, but adding Thomas would certainly give the secondary a boost.
Dallas might not end up making an offer to Thomas when this is all said and done. However, rumors will constantly emerge about how he's the perfect fit for the franchise. Those rumors used to irritate Woods, but they no longer have that effect.
"It doesn't bother me anymore, man," Woods told the Cowboys' official team site. "I don't even pay no mind to it."
Here's what else Woods had to say about the rumors:
"I just can control what I can control. That's the bottom line," he said. "I know my worth. I know that I can play and that's all that matters to me."
Last year, Woods had 77 tackles and two interceptions for the Cowboys. Thomas, on the other hand, had 49 tackles and two interceptions for the Ravens.
With the regular season roughly two weeks away, Dallas might be better served to stick with the current group of safeties that it has.
Which team do you think will make a run at Thomas this year?
