The Dallas Cowboys beat the Miami Dolphins today, 31-6, and covered the massive spread in the process. But the game was far from the easy waltz to a W that fans and pundits thought it would be - at least in the first half.
Dallas led Miami, 10-6, in the first half, with Dak Prescott committing a rare turnover in the process. Had the defense not held firm before the half, Miami might have taken the lead at halftime.
After going into the locker room though, Cowboys star DeMarcus Lawrence reportedly made an impassioned speech to his teammates. Per RJ Ochoa of Blogging The Boys, here is what Lawrence told the Cowboys in the locker room:
"BEAT. THEY. ASS. PERIOD. That's it. That's all you've got to say. When you've got dogs they be ready for war anyways."
The message was definitely received.
Dallas came out firing in the second half, scoring two touchdowns in the third quarter to take a 24-6 lead. The defense did not allow a point in the second half and sacked Dolphins quarterback Josh Rosen several times.
A Tony Pollard touchdown late in the fourth quarter sealed the win for the Cowboys.
The Cowboys clearly need somebody to light a fire under them and they got it.
With the win, Dallas moves to 3-0 on the season - their best start since 2008.
