By all indications, the Dallas Cowboys are looking to retain wide receiver Michael Gallup on a multi-year deal, even if it means getting rid of Amari Cooper.

Such a decision is definitely a calculated gamble by Dallas, to say the least. It's not because Gallup lacks talent; rather, it's because he suffered a season-ending torn ACL in January.

Nevertheless, NFL insider Mike Garafolo says the Cowboys appear confident in Gallup's long-term health, so much so that they are aiming to make him "very rich" with a possible five-year deal worth "north of $10 million" per season.

Not surprisingly, many Cowboys fans are expressing their reservations with such a move.

In order to give Gallup his payday, the Cowboys are going to have to trade or release Amari Cooper, who is due north of $20 million in 2022.

Dallas is clearly hoping that despite the knee injury, Gallup can return to the form he showed in 2019-20, when the third-round pick caught 125 passes for 1,950 yards and 11 touchdowns in 30 games.
