Last Thursday night, the Dallas Cowboys were embarrassed on national television by the Chicago Bears. Following the loss, NFL insider Jane Slater reported the Cowboys spoke with former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer about a potential opening.
“Jerry Jones says Jason Garrett will remain the coach but I can confirm a very real interest in Urban Meyer. In fact, I’m told Stephen Jones spoke with him recently,” Slater reported on Thursday night.
While that report garnered the most headlines, another candidate emerged that isn’t receiving the same hype.
College football insider Bruce Feldman made an appearance on the Rich Eisen Show and revealed a prediction NFL insider Daniel Jeremiah made to him.
Jeremiah predicted Dallas will hire a different college football coach. According to Feldman, Jeremiah thinks Florida coach Dan Mullen will be the next coach of the Cowboys.
“Our friend Daniel Jeremiah made a prediction to me a week or two ago saying he thinks that it will be Dan Mullen,” Feldman said.
Bruce Feldman told Rich Eisen today that he doesn't think Lincoln Riley will leave Oklahoma, but he did point to another name that Daniel Jeremiah had suggested: Dan Mullen. pic.twitter.com/HizcmIY6JY

Mullen proved to be a good head coach during his time at Mississippi State – where he developed Dak Prescott.
A reunion between Mullen and Prescott could be great news for the Cowboys moving forward.
Dallas sits on top of the NFC East, but barely. If the Cowboys fail to make the playoffs, they could opt for a new head coach.
