The Dallas Cowboys have been hit by the injury bug pretty hard this preseason. The latest victim is one of the team's best players, guard Zack Martin.

Martin enters the season fresh off of signing a massive contract extension with the team.

It is impossible to argue that its not well-deserved. Martin has been one of the best offensive linemen in the NFL since he entered the league. He has made the Pro Bowl in all four of his pro seasons.

Martin was a first-team All-Pro in 2014 and 2016, and second-team in 2015 and 2017. He is yet to miss a start in his career.

Zack Martin left the game after Bengals cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick went low at his ankle.

I haven't been able to find video yet, but Jon Machota of The Dallas Morning News described the play.

He spent a bunch of time in the medical tent before leaving the field area.

The team has announced that it is a knee injury. That is not what anyone wanted to hear.

The Cowboys were already without one of their other star offensive linemen. Center Travis Frederick sat out of this game with stingers.

Hopefully this injury isn't serious. Preseason injuries are the absolute worst.
