New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley appears to be in the middle of a seemingly miraculous recovery from a high ankle sprain.
After Barkley was injured in Week 3 and the diagnosis was finalized, the original timeline for his return was 4-to-8 weeks. Given the fact he’s been back on the practice field the last two days, albeit in non-contact drills, it looks like Barkley could blow the doors off that timetable.
In fact, Giants head coach Pat Shurmur won’t rule out Barkley suiting up this Sunday, two weeks after he got hurt. That seems unlikely, but it illustrates just how quick a healer the 2018 No. 2 overall pick is.
Asked today by SNY’s Taylor Rooks how he’s able to bounce back so quickly, Barkley joked that he’s been to Wakanda. That’s the fictional utopian nation in the movie Black Panther.
In the film, Wakanda is depicted as a place with magical healing powers.

Maybe Saquon got a hold of some vibranium. In reality, he’s just truly a freak of nature.
The Giants would be foolish to rush Barkley back before he’s 100% healed, but if he keeps up this pace, it won’t be very long until he’s on the field again.
