Former Chicago Bears star wide receiver Alshon Jeffery has reportedly signed a one-year, $14 million deal with the Philadelphia Eagles.
ESPN's Josina Anderson got the scoop on Jeffery's new destination, which was first tweeted by her colleague Adam Schefter.
According to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, Jeffery is signing a pretty interesting deal: one year, for $14 million.
When healthy, Jeffery is a very impressive receiver. Through five NFL seasons, he has 304 receptions for 4,549 yards and 26 receiving touchdowns. He played in all 16 games of the 2013 and 2014 seasons, his two most productive campaigns. In 2013, he put up a stat line of 89 catches, 1,421 yards, and seven touchdowns, and followed it up with an 85/1,133/10 year. However, he has missed a total of 17 games over his other three NFL seasons, and only played in 12 games last year.
If healthy, Philadelphia just landed a very good wide receiver for young quarterback Carson Wentz to throw to. His health is a serious concern, but with just a one year deal, the risk is relatively low.
