On Thursday night, the Philadelphia Eagles faced off against the New England Patriots in the second preseason game for both teams.
Before the action kicked off, second-year quarterback Jalen Hurts was seen warming up. However, when the game officially kicked off, Hurts was nowhere to be seen.
Just a few minutes after kickoff, the Eagles confirmed the former Alabama and Oklahoma star would not play in the game to to an “illness.” Details surrounding the situation remained unknown until after the game was over.
Following the game, head coach Nick Sirianni spoke with reporters and gave a clearer picture of what happened. He said Hurts wasn’t feeling well when he arrived to the stadium.
He tried to give it a go, but still wasn’t feeling well. Then Sirianni said Hurts went to the hospital for further evaluation, but is “fine now.”

Fans were hoping to see Hurts face off against former Alabama teammate and current Patriots rookie quarterback Mac Jones. Obviously his overall health is more important and it’s good to see he’s doing okay.
Hurts went 3-for-7 for 54 yards in limited action against the Pittsburgh Steelers last week. He’ll be the team’s starting quarterback from the very start this season and hopes to lead the Eagles to a division title.
Hopefully he makes a full recovery from whatever his ailment was tonight.
