On Thursday night, the Green Bay Packers hosted the Philadelphia Eagles in what turned into an ugly contest with several serious injuries.
The game took an unfortunate turn early in the first quarter. Eagles defensive lineman Derek Barnett hit Packers running back Jamaal Williams in the head after the whistle.
Medical personnel carted Williams off the field and taken to a local medical facility for further testing.
Unfortunately, Williams wasn't the only player to leave on a stretcher. Late in the fourth quarter, Eagles corner Avonte Maddox suffered from friendly fire when Andrew Sendejo attempted to break up the play.
Maddox was carted off the field as well. However, both he and Williams appear to be doing well after their scary injuries.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport revealed Maddox flew back to Philadelphia with the team on Thursday night after spending a short time at a local hospital.
It's great news for Maddox and the Eagles, who are banged up in the secondary.
Philadelphia desperately needed a win in Green Bay last night and the defense stepped up when it counted most. Now the Eagles, 2-2 on the year, gear up for a home game against the New York Jets.
Stay tuned for the latest on Maddox and the Eagles.
