Quarterback Joe Flacco is the newest member of the New York Jets following a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles. But one of the players Flacco mentored in Philly, Eagles starting quarterback Jalen Hurts, has a message for his now-former teammate.
Speaking to the media this week, Hurts thanked Flacco for being his mentor over the past few months. Hurts praised him for being so knowledgeable and wished him luck in his new home.
“I expressed that to Joe, and I just wanted to let him know that everything I said before those games, I truly believed it from the standpoint of the things that he’s been able to do over his career, the knowledge he’s poured on me, his voice in the room. It meant a lot to me. I wish him the best of luck as he gets the opportunity to go out there and play,” Hurts said, via the Delaware News Journal.
The former Oklahoma and Alabama quarterback certainly appears to have taken some lessons to heart. He’s noticeably improved as a passer from last year.

Joe Flacco was the backup quarterback for the New York Jets in 2020, but was not re-signed after the season. However, with the injury to rookie starter Zach Wilson, the team’s depth at the position is extremely thin.
The Jets decided to trade a late-round pick for the player they chose not to re-sign. But it’s not known when or even if Flacco will see the field.
Mike White will be making his first NFL start this weekend against the Cincinnati Bengals. Flacco is not expected to suit up for that game, but could be on the sideline next Thursday against the Indianapolis Colts.
