Through the first half of the 2019 season, secondary play has been a cause of major consternation for the Philadelphia Eagles. The team badly needs help on the back end, particularly at cornerback.

Leading up to today's trade deadline, they have been linked to a number of veteran corners, most notably Detroit's Darius Slay. Denver's Chris Harris Jr. is another name to watch.

According to ESPN's Dianna Russini, the Eagles have spoken with the Broncos about Harris, but Denver's asking price is too high. The 30-year-old four-time Pro Bowler will be a free agent at the end of the 2019 season.

At 4-4, Philly is looking to make a big splash to prep for a playoff run.

Because Harris is an impending free agent, it limits what teams will be willing to pony up for him. Denver has to ask for a lot in return, but we'll see if their demands come down as the deadline gets closer.

In eight games this season, Harris has 22 tackles, four passes defensed, an interception and a forced fumble.

The trade deadline is in roughly 90 minutes. Stay tuned.
