Today has featured a few different quarterback injuries. The worst, at least based on appearance, is clearly Alex Smith.

The Washington quarterback was taken down by a blitzing Kareem Jackson, as well as star pass rusher J.J. Watt.

Video of the play is pretty gruesome, be warned.

A few people likened it to the famous injury to a former Washington quarterback: Joe Theismann.

Among those who have made it is Theismann himself.

To make things even crazier, that injury came exactly 33 years ago today.

That injury, delivered on November 18, 1985 by New York Giants linebacker Lawrence Taylor, ended his career.

Theismann was a Super Bowl Champion, and won the MVP award two years earlier.

Hopefully Smith has a much better outlook. Our thoughts go out to him today.

Former Texas star Colt McCoy is in for Smith, and has thrown for a touchdown. Washington trails Houston 17-14.
