The Washington Redskins made the right choice on Thursday night, selecting Ohio State star Chase Young with the second overall pick. He'll be asked to take down opposing quarterbacks for years to come.
Immediately after the Redskins drafted Young, Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott welcomed him to the NFC East with a friendly tweet.
Elliott and Young are regarded as two of the best Buckeyes to suit up for the program in recent memory. Judging off Young's response to Elliott, these two Ohio State products will be seeing each other in the near future.
"Appreciate it bro," Young replied back to Elliott. "I'll see you soon!"
Washington is still far behind Dallas and Philadelphia from a talent standpoint, but adding a player of Young's caliber to its roster should shrink the gap by a solid margin.
Young dominated his opposition in 2019, totaling 46 tackles and 16.5 sacks in just 12 starts.
The defensive line for the Redskins should be a strength this fall, as Young will join a cast that features Jonathan Allen, Da'Ron Payne and Montez Sweat.
After ranking 27th in points and yards allowed this past season, the Redskins should be much better on the defensive side of the ball in 2020.
