Fitzpatrick had to be helped off the field in yesterday’s loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. The initial diagnosis wasn’t promising, and NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported earlier today that it’s a hip subluxation – a serious injury which requires some time off.
Ryan Fitzpatrick may not be an elite quarterback, but he’s one of the most respected players at his position in the league. Even non-Washington fans are sending well-wishes for the iconic quarterback.
NFL fans and analysts have all sent their regards to the veteran quarterback. They all hope he makes a swift recovery:

I'm hopeful of a fast and full recovery for Fitz. I feel bad for him, because he expressed that he wanted to take advantage of this unique opportunity for himself. I'm just not sure if he will be affective, even if he's cleared to play this season. https://t.co/rPhFIeE6QR

But other fans believe that the injury to Ryan Fitzpatrick may open the door for Cam Newton to join the team. Newton played for Washington head coach Ron Rivera on the Carolina Panthers for a decade:

It probably wouldn’t be the worst idea in the world. The Washington Football Team could certainly use more options at the position.
The Washington Football Team will be rolling with backup Taylor Heinicke for now. He’ll be starting Thursday’s game against the New York Giants.
We can only hope that Fitzpatrick’s injury isn’t so serious as to end his season – or cut his career short.
Get well soon, Fitz!
