Now that there's seemingly nowhere for him to coach in college next season, the Urban Meyer-to-the-NFL rumors have started up in earnest.

Meyer has been linked to the Dallas Cowboys, who are almost certainly going to fire Jason Garrett at the end of the season. The Washington Redskins already have an opening, as they moved on from Jay Gruden earlier this fall.

Meyer is at today's Redskins-Eagles game in Landover. He's been seen with Redskins owner Dan Snyder as well.

Naturally, this got tongues wagging.

Meyer has an obvious connection to the Redskins. His former quarterback, Dwayne Haskins, is starting for the team as a rookie.

Washington fans no doubt have visions of Meyer swooping in to save their moribund franchise, but let's calm down for now. We're not even sure if he's interested in the job.

Meyer would need a level of control and autonomy that Snyder typically doesn't afford his head coaches. Plus, it seems more likely he'd want to coach in Dallas if he makes the jump to the NFL.
