The Washington Redskins Are Reportedly Signing Adrian Peterson

Adrian Peterson has found a home just a few weeks shy of the 2018 NFL season. The 33-year-old running back is reportedly signing with the Washington Redskins.

The Redskins hosted Peterson on a visit today after a recent rash of injuries at the running back position. The team also brought in veterans Jamaal Charles and Orleans Darkwa over the weekend.

Peterson is the man they are signing, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport.

Peterson struggled last season, rushing for only 529 yards on 156 carries during stints with the New Orleans Saints and Arizona Cardinals. Peterson's last big season came in 2015, when he rushed for 1,485 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Washington's running back depth has been gutted this preseason. Presumptive starter Derrius Guice blew out his knee in the exhibition opener, ending the second-round pick's rookie season before it began. After that, Samaje Perine and Byron Marshall have been banged up as well.

The Redskins still have Chris Thompson as a pass-catching back, but need someone to help carry the load as a runner. That's where Peterson comes in, though we'll have to see how much he has left in the tank.

The Redskins host the Denver Broncos on Friday night in preseason action. They open the 2018 season against the Arizona Cardinals on Sept. 9.
