Mitch Trubisky took a lot of heat in 2019 for apparently regressing from his Pro Bowl form in 2018. But the Chicago Bears front office has maintained that they’re committed to the former No. 3 overall draft pick. So what do Trubisky’s teammates think about the idea of him retaining his starting job?
In an interview with TMZ Sports, Bears CB Prince Amukamara declared that the Bears trust in Trubisky to lead them to the promised land. Amukamara admonished Trubisky’s critics and declared “he’s the guy” for Chicago.
“Coming from a guy who sees him work hard, I know what he has in store,” Prince says. “I still feel like he played great for us last year and I think he’s our guy.”
“I’ve seen the work he’s put in. He’s the guy.”
In 15 starts this past year, Trubisky had 17 touchdown passes and 10 interceptions. He saw his accuracy decline and took more sacks than his previous years.
The Bears finished the season with an 8-8 record, missing the playoffs for the eighth time in nine years.
Getting back to postseason play in the NFC will be contingent on strong QB play from Trubisky. Can the Bears young QB get them back in the playoffs next season?
