Do the Chicago Bears actually have a kicker? They might, as Eddy Pineiro is off to a good start.

Pineiro won the Bears' kicking competition this August, outlasting Elliott Fry. The team did not bring in veteran competition for him at the end of the summer, and he repaid that faith tonight.

Pineiro is 1-for-1 as an NFL kicker after drilling a 38-yard attempt on Chicago's second possession. The boot gave the Bears an early 3-0 lead over the Green Bay Packers.

Just look at the reaction from the fans. They remember what happened the last time a Bears kicker attempted one in a meaningful game at home.

Pineiro might have helped Bears fans shake some of the painful memories of Cody Parkey with that kick, but let's be real. He's going to need to make a lot more, including some under pressure, for the fan base to feel confident about him.

This was a good start though, and at least bought him some immediate goodwill.

Bears-Packers is currently airing on NBC.
