In the wake of trade rumors surrounding Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford, the Lions front office has come out to call the reports “100% false.” But that didn’t stop Stafford’s wife, Kelly, from raising some hell about the rumors on social media.
Screenshots of Kelly Stafford’s Instagram stories show that she scrolled through some articles addressing reports of her husband being on the trading block.
The first article she saw had the headline “3 Most Likely Trade Destinations for Matthew Stafford if the Lions Draft a QB.” To which she replied, “Well if detroit is done with us…”
She then went to a section of the article that had the Los Angeles Chargers listed as the No. 1 team. Kelly responded with a shrug emoji and wrote, “I could stay in Cali…”

Stafford has been with the Lions since they drafted him No. 1 overall in the 2009 NFL Draft. After an injury-riddled first three seasons, he started every game between 2011 and 2018. During that time, he made the Pro Bowl and led the Lions to three playoff appearances.
But a back injury in 2019 ended his start streak, and the Lions finished with a 3-12-1 record this past year.
With the team in a perfect position to get a new, young QB, there are many who think now might be the right time to replace the 32-year-old Stafford.
Judging by her response on social media, Kelly Stafford may not be totally opposed to it if the location is right.
