Former Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa will make the transition from college to the pros in coming months. The first step of that highly anticipated transition takes place in the upcoming NFL Draft.
Despite a horrific injury late in 2019, Tagovailoa is still widely considered a top-5 worthy draft pick. It makes sense considering his generational talent. Most draft experts predict Tagovailoa will head to Miami considering the Dolphins are in need of a QB and currently hold the No. 5 pick.
Heisman-winner Joe Burrow is still expected to go first overall to the Bengals followed by Chase Young to the Redskins at No. 2. The biggest question heading into the upcoming draft though revolves around who the Lions will select with the No. 3 overall pick. Will Detroit surprise everyone and draft Tagovailoa?
Draft expert Mel Kiper has a new landing spot for Tagovailoa – and it’s not in Miami. Kiper’s latest 2020 Mock Draft pegs Tagovailoa to Detroit to replace current Lions QB Matthew Stafford. That would be wild.

If the Lions take Tagovailoa, Miami will still most likely be in the market for a passer.
Former Oregon QB Justin Herbert would then likely head to the Dolphins at No. 5. It would be absolutely wild if three quarterbacks are taken in the first five picks of the draft – but it certainly seems like a possibility.
The first round of the 2020 NFL Draft takes place on Apr. 23 in Las Vegas.
