The 2018 NFL season is just a few weeks away. Most teams reported to training camp this week with a few exceptions.

Heading into the 2018 campaign, a major storyline revolves around Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald and Oakland Raiders defensive end Khalil Mack, who are hoping to become the highest-paid defensive players in the league.

There's another significant contract in the works as well. Although he still has two years left on his current deal, Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers are reportedly working on an extension.

The new contract will likely make Rodgers the highest-paid player in NFL history. Ryan Glasspiegel reported that Adam Schefter believes a deal could come as soon as this summer.

Matt Ryan set the market earlier this year when he signed a five-year, $150 million deal.

Rodgers is likely in store for a massive contract that will pay him north of $30 million per year. Viewed as the top quarterback in the league year-in and year-out, Rodgers will finally be paid like it.

The Packers star currently sits on a two-year, $42 million deal, but that will change soon enough.
