On Sunday, the Minnesota Vikings were dealt troubling news involving fourth-year safety Jayron Kearse. The former Clemson star was reportedly arrested for driving while intoxicated.
Minnesota played on Thursday Night against the Washington Redskins. Since the team has the weekend off, Kearse was out late.
Kearse was pulled over early Sunday on a freeway while allegedly driving drunk. To make matters worse, the police reportedly found a loaded gun in his car.
According to the Star Tribune, the defensive back for the Vikings remains in jail without bail. The issue isn't just that he drove while intoxicated, it also turns out that he doesn't have a permit for the firearm.
The Vikings released a statement on the arrest, saying "We are aware of Jayron's arrest and are gathering additional information at this time."
Kearse was selected by the Vikings in the seventh round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He's been a solid role player for Mike Zimmer's defense over the past few years.
Prior to being drafted in 2016, Kearse made a name for himself at Clemson. In 2015 he earned All-ACC honors while helping the Tigers make the national championship game.
It's very possible that Kearse could miss next weekend's game for Minnesota. The Vikings travel to Kansas City next Sunday to take on the Chiefs.
