Lady Gaga Super Bowl halftime show: watch the pop star's full performance from Houston here.
The first half of tonight's Super Bowl LI did not go as many expected, with the Atlanta Falcons dominating play against the New England Patriots. Matt Ryan's club leads the game 21-3 after an explosive second quarter performance. What people did expect: a pretty crazy halftime performance from Lady Gaga, and that's just what we got. The roof at NRG Stadium was opened ahead of her big performance.
Gaga did not open with one of her own hits, but instead went with a brief medley of patriotic songs, before jumping from the roof into the stadium, and starting the show in earnest with "Poker Face."
In case you ran out to grab some food or use the restroom and missed the show, here it is in full:
Other songs performed during the Lady Gaga halftime show include "Born This Way," "Just Dance," and "Bad Romance."
She finished the set with a mic drop, and taking a dive off the stage while catching a ball in mid-air.
After a run of classic rock performers taking the halftime show during the 2000s, the performance has bent back towards modern, mainstream pop acts in recent years. The last few Super Bowl halftime shows have been headlined by Coldplay, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, and Beyonce, who headlined in 2013 and was a major guest of Coldplay at least year's show. There were rumors that Beyonce, who recently announced that she is pregnant with twins, would show up again for the game in Houston, her home town. Instead, Gaga had the rare halftime show that did not feature a major cameo.
Gaga did double duty during Super Bowl halftime, appearing in a commercial for Tiffany's just before halftime.
