The Atlanta Falcons lost today in heartbreaking fashion, as the ageless Matt Bryant missed what would have been the game-tying extra point with 1:53 remaining.
As a result, the Arizona Cardinals hung on to win 34-33, dropping Atlanta to 1-5 on the season. After his miss, Bryant was inconsolable on the sideline.
The 44-year-old veteran has kicked in the NFL since 2002. He has experienced plenty of joy and pain in his distinguished career.
Still, this mistake clearly affected him deeply. Cameras panning the sideline saw Bryant on his knee nearly in tears.

Man, it’s tough to see that. Bryant isn’t the only one to blame for Atlanta’s loss but he’s probably going to take responsibility postgame.
Bryant hadn’t missed an extra point this season and had only missed seven in his entire career up to today. Three of those seven misses came after the NFL increased the distance on point-after attempts prior to the 2015 season.
Still, an occurrence like today’s is a rare one indeed.
