Earlier Thursday afternoon, the Carolina Panthers fired head coach Ron Rivera after nine seasons with the organization.

Rivera led the team to four playoff appearances, including a Super Bowl appearance in 2015. However, after losing four-straight games – including a loss to the Washington Redskins – his time as the coach came to an end.

With Rivera gone, where will the organization turn?

Well, BetOnline released news off for who will become the next head coach of the Carolina Panthers. All of the usual suspects popped up, including the favorite for the job: Jim Harbaugh.

Although Harbaugh is currently employed by Michigan, he’s generally named as the top choice for just about every job that becomes available.

Jason Garrett, Josh McDaniels and Dan Quinn were mentioned as other possible candidates for the job.

Odds to be the next Head Coach of the Panthers (BetOnline):

Jim Harbaugh +300
Jason Garrett +500
Josh McDaniels +550
Dan Quinn +600
Urban Meyer +600
Greg Roman +1200
Mike LaFleur +1200
Jay Gruden +1400
Doug Marrone +1600
Pat Shurmur +1800
Doug Pederson +2000
Bill Cowher +10000

Interestingly, former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer was also tabbed as a possible replacement for Ron Rivera. Meyer expressed his interest in coaching the Dallas Cowboys, who could decide to move on from Jason Garrett following the 2019 season.

The former Buckeyes coach has never coached in the NFL. However, now could be the time for him to make the jump.

Stay tuned for the latest on the Panthers’ coaching search.
