Cam Newton struggled in his return to Carolina this past season, completing just 54.8 percent of his passes for 684 yards and four touchdowns. Despite having a down year, the former MVP hasn't given up hope.

In a recent conversation with ESPN insider Adam Schefter, Newton revealed that he's drawing interest from teams. However, he's remaining patient because he wants to play for a contender.

"I have teams that are interested in signing me,” Newton said. “I am waiting on the best fit as it pertains to winning a championship and getting a fair chance to play."

While no one will blame Newton for chasing a championship at this stage in his career, fans are having a tough time envisioning a scenario where he's starting for a Super Bowl contender.

"I understand wanting to play. But winning a championship ain’t happening with this guy starting a majority of the games," one fan tweeted.

"He can’t get both of these things," a second fan said. "I love Cam but nope I’m sorry."

"Respect the confidence this guy still has immensely," another fan wrote.

Newton's résumé features so many accolades, such as MVP and Offensive Rookie of the Year. All he's truly missing is a Super Bowl ring.
