Christian McCaffrey has officially carried the Carolina Panthers to the point where he’s landed on the injury report because of it. In a shocking turn of events, the superstar running back did not practice on Wednesday.
McCaffrey is coming off his best game of the season. He had over 200 scrimmage yards and three touchdowns in a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Through five games this season, the Stanford product has 587 rushing yards, 279 receiving yards and seven total touchdowns. It’s safe to say he’s in the mix for this year’s MVP award.
Although it’s too early to tell if McCaffrey will be active this weekend for Carolina, we now know that the former first-round pick is dealing with a back injury.

It’s important to note that McCaffrey landed hard on his back this past Sunday. However, it occurred early in the game and didn’t affect him the rest of the way through.
Carolina is facing Tampa Bay this weekend in London. Both teams can use a crucial win to stay in the hunt for the top record in the NFC South.
The Panthers could be resting McCaffrey this week during practice after giving him a heavy dose of touches this past weekend.
We’ll have an idea of McCaffrey’s status for Week 6 in the coming days.
