Cam Newton Stars In New Gatorade Commercial

A new Cam Newton Gatorade commercial shows the Carolina Panthers' star shaking off last season's painful Super Bowl loss.

The latest Cam Newton Gatorade commercial, which premiered today, begins with footage of Newton's controversial Super Bowl XL post-game presser. It also shows him getting strip-sacked by Von Miller.

As the gospel song "This Little Light of Mine" plays in the background, Cam moves ahead to preseason workouts and weight training. The video ends with him putting on the pads and preparing to take the field in front of a cheering crowd.

It certainly seems like Cam is ready to move past last season's disappointing finish.

Newton and the Panthers get an immediate opportunity to exorcise some of their Super Bowl demons. They open up the 2016 season tonight in Denver against the defending champion Broncos. Kickoff will be at 8:30 p.m. ET on NBC.

Cam will be looking to build on his 2015 MVP campaign. Last year, he threw for 3,837 yards and 35 touchdowns while also rushing for 636 yards and 10 more scores. Those are tough numbers to duplicate, but Newton is still only 27 and showed off an improved all-around game last fall. If he keeps trending upward, look out.

Heading into Week 1, we rank Cam among our top 10 quarterbacks to start in fantasy. He retains his leading receiver, tight end Greg Olsen (1,104 receiving yards), and gets back wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin, who missed all of last season after tearing his ACL. Carolina also returns running back Jonathan Stewart (989 rushing yards and six touchdowns in 2015).

Predictably, many pundits are high on the Panthers. ESPN ranks them fifth in their Week 1 power rankings, while has them in the No. 1 spot. The team is looking for its fourth-straight NFC South title and playoff appearance.
