The Carolina Panthers were pretty quiet in the first week of free agency other than trying and failing to land Deshaun Watson. But they hope to make a big splash with their current free agent pursuit.

According to ESPN Panthers insider David Newton, the Panthers are pursuing free agent left tackle Duane Brown. The 36-year-old offensive tackle is coming off a five-year run with the Seattle Seahawks and made the Pro Bowl this past year.

Brown has been a model of consistency over the past few years. Since 2018 he has missed only four games, earning All-Pro honors in the process.

He was one of the few bright spots on a Seahawks offensive line that struggled to stand tall against the pass rush. Suffice it to say, he could be a huge asset (literally) for the Carolina Panthers offensive line.

Since the start of free agency the Carolina Panthers have added just a handful of new players at key positions. They added guard Austin Corbett from the Super Bowl champion Rams, slot wide receiver Rashard Higgins and linebacker Damien Wilson.

The real thumb in the eye was openly courting then failing to land Deshaun Watson, who wound up going to the Cleveland Browns.

It's clear that the offseason priority for the Panthers has been to build up their offense. If they can land Duane Brown, maybe they'll be better than bottom four in 2022.

Will Duane Brown sign with the Carolina Panthers?
