The biggest storyline this upcoming offseason for the Carolina Panthers will revolved around former MVP Cam Newton. Management will have to decide whether they want to move on from him, or hope to have him at 100 percent.
When healthy there is no denying that Newton is one of the top quarterbacks in football. The downside is that he’s dealt with injuries the past two seasons to his foot and shoulder.
Carolina has relied on Kyle Allen at quarterback for the majority of this season. He’s done an admirable job filling in for an elite playmaker like Newton, but the front office isn’t ready to make him the face of the franchise.
In fact, Panthers owner David Tepper is reportedly very fond of Newton.
According to Kyle Bailey of WFNZ-AM/FM, Tepper prefers a healthy Cam Newton to be his starter next season.
Just spoke to a source inside the @Panthers front office re: David Tepper’s position on Cam Newton.
Tepper has apparently made it clear that he prefers a healthy Cam to be his starting QB next season and that their relationship is an extremely positive one. #KeepPounding

There are a bunch of trade rumors involving Newton, but the front office doesn’t have to entertain calls if they really want to keep him.
Not only does the team have to make a decision at quarterback, it’ll have to find a new coach as well.
It’ll be an interesting offseason in Carolina.
