Panthers HC Ron Rivera will be faced with an extremely difficult decision when Cam Newton gets healthy. Does Rivera stick with the youngster, Kyle Allen? Or will he turn the reigns back over to the former MVP?

According to the latest report from Ian Rapoport, it looks like Rivera won't have to make that decision just yet.

Carolina's head coach has named Allen the Panthers' starter for Sunday's contest against the 49ers. But Rapoport also reports Newton is still rehabbing, meaning he has not returned to practice just yet.

Allen's won every game he's started this season. After starting 0-2, the Panthers are now 4-2 after four-straight wins.

The second-year quarterback has 901 passing yards and seven touchdowns while completing over 65% of his passes this season. Due to his stellar play, many Panthers fans are calling for Allen to be the team's starter for the rest of the season.

If Rivera does intend to start Allen when Newton returns, it'll be interesting to see how the team handles the situation. Not to mention, would Newton eventually demand a trade if he is benched?

There are plenty of teams that would be in the market for a quarterback of Newton's caliber.

But for now, all the Panthers are worried about is the 49ers on Sunday.
