Teddy Bridgewater may have found his new home. The Saints QB is close to finalizing a deal with the Carolina Panthers.
The Panthers are ready to move on from former MVP Cam Newton. Newton’s age and his inability to stay healthy were big factors in Carolina’s decision.
Matt Rhule and the Panthers aren’t dwelling on the past, though. The organization is moving forward quickly to sign a new quarterback – and it appears Bridgewater is going to be Carolina’s 2020 starter.
The former Saints and Vikings passer is “finalizing a deal” with the Panthers, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport. It looks like the deal will be completed by Wednesday:
The #Panthers are finalizing a deal with QB Teddy Bridgewater to be their starting QB, sources say. New OC Joe Brady gets a new QB in Teddy B. There is a basic agreement.

Bridgewater was garnering major interest from the Panthers and also the New England Patriots. Both teams are replacing long-time starting quarterbacks, but it’ll be Carolina that lands Bridgewater as long as the deal gets finalized.
As for New Orleans, Saints fans are in a tough position. Bridgewater has drawn plenty of respect and admiration from the New Orleans fan base. But now, the former backup QB will be playing in the same division, fighting for the NFC South title.
Bridgewater is ready to be the leader of a new era in Carolina.
