Chad Johnson hasn’t played professional football since 2011, but the former NFL great appears to be interested in making an comeback.
Johnson is well aware the New Orleans Saints could be in need of some temporary depth at receiver. Pro-Bowl wideout Michael Thomas underwent ankle surgery over the weekend and could end up missing a few weeks of the regular season, as a result.
So how does Johnson factor in here? He made an offer to the Saints on Monday. All he wants is a chance to play in the NFL again. He isn’t even requiring pay. All Johnson wants is a “company car & place to stay.”
“@Saints Here me out, even years removed I’m STILL in better shape than 90% of these earthlings & can play until my guy @Cantguardmike comes back, don’t need money/contract just a company car & place to stay,” Johnson said on Twitter.

Will the Saints take Chad Johnson up on his offer? It’s highly unlikely. He’s 43 years old and hasn’t played in the NFL for a decade. But hey, it’s worth a shot.
Michael Thomas plays a massive role for the New Orleans offense. And the Saints will be ushering in a new quarterback this upcoming season. It’s safe to say they can use all the help they can get.
The chances Johnson ever plays in the NFL again are slim, but he’s taking his shot regardless. Perhaps the Saints will give him an opportunity.
