Drew Brees announced back in February that he would return to the New Orleans Saints. Fast forward a month later, and the two sides have reached an agreement on a new deal.
According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the Saints and Brees agreed to a two-year deal worth $50 million. He’s taking less money in order to allow the front office to spend money on other free agents.
Even though Brees is toward the end of his career, the future Hall of Famer can still play at a high level. Since he’ll be back in the mix for next season, the Saints should remain contenders in the NFC.
As for how his teammates feel about this deal, they appear to be very happy that Brees is back in town. Michael Thomas shared his reaction to the new deal for Brees on Twitter.
No words were necessary for the All-Pro wideout.

Brees and Thomas have formed one of the best duos in the NFL over the past few years.
In 2019, Thomas broke Marvin Harrison’s record for most receptions in a single season.
We’ll see what Brees and Thomas have in store when the new season begins in September.
