The New Orleans Saints won’t take the field until Sunday, but it appears Sean Payton is having himself a weekend to remember. On Friday night, he got engaged to his longtime girlfriend Skylene Montgomery.
Payton proposed to Montgomery at a private party at the Longway Tavern. She initially thought the event was for the anniversary of Saints owner Gayle Benson and her late husband, Tom Benson.
Similar to his coaching style, Payton thought outside of the box to shock Montgomery. Later on during the party, he got down on one knee and asked Montgomery to marry him.
This is an awesome moment for Payton, who recently earned a lucrative contract extension from the Saints. Now, he can say he’s happily engaged.
Here are some photos from the proposal in the French Quarter:

Next up for Sean Payton is an NFC South showdown with the Atlanta Falcons.
The Saints are having yet another strong season under Payton. Despite losing star quarterback Drew Brees for five-straight games, the team owns a 7-1 record as they enter Week 10.
If fans think Payton’s proposal was creative, just wait until we see what plays he calls this Sunday as New Orleans is coming off its bye week.
