The New Orleans Saints have been without their future Hall of Fame quarterback since Week 2.
Star quarterback Drew Brees suffered a significant thumb injury on his throwing hand after colliding with Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald.
Since then, Brees had surgery on the right thumb and was given a 6-8 week timeline for a potential return.
Earlier this week, he ran through individual drills in practice, but did not throw a football.
On Saturday afternoon, Brees posted a video to his Instagram account where he can be seen throwing a football. Although it doesn’t appear to be NFL regulation size, it’s a welcome sight to see him back on the field slinging the rock.
Check it out.
Just under three weeks after suffering the injury, Brees looks to be ahead of his initial injury recovery timeline.
During his absence, backup quarterback Teddy Bridgewater led the Saints to two victories over two of the best teams in the NFL.
A 33-27 win over Seattle and a 12-10 win over Dallas has New Orleans at 4-1 on the season as the Saints sit pretty in the NFC.
The Saints are set to face off against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this weekend.
Stay tuned for the latest on Brees.
