It looks like the New Orleans Saints will be keeping Sean Payton around for the foreseeable future.
Moments ago, FOX’s NFL insider Jay Glazer broke news that Payton and the Saints have agreed on a five-year contract extension. The deal keeps him in the Big Easy through the 2024 season.
It also should eliminate some of the rumors popping up that the Dallas Cowboys were considering poaching Payton if they move on from Jason Garrett in the offseason.
Payton owns a 120-74 career regular season record with New Orleans. He has been the team’s head coach since 2006.

Payton led the Saints to a championship in Super Bowl XLIV and steered the franchise to NFC Championship Game appearances last season and in 2006.
We all know how the NFC title game ended for New Orleans last year, but the Saints will have a chance at a measure of revenge against the Los Angeles Rams today.
Kickoff for Rams-Saints will be at 4:25 p.m. ET on FOX.
