There were plenty of bright spots for the New Orleans Saints during last night’s preseason matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The bad news for Sean Payton’s squad, however, is that they lost their top tight ends in the process.
According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the Saints are waiting for test results from Adam Trautman and Nick Vannett.
Trautman was carted off the field on Monday night with a foot/ankle injury. The X-Rays on Trautman’s foot already came back negative, but he still needs to have an MRI done to figure out what the issue is.
Vannett, meanwhile, suffered a knee injury and is currently undergoing an MRI to determine the severity of it.
The #Saints suffered injuries to not one but two TEs last night: Along with Adam Trautman (foot/ankle), TE Nick Vannett suffered a knee injury and he is currently undergoing an MRI to determine the severity.

With the regular season arriving fairly soon, the Saints need to make a few calls to bring in some reinforcements at tight end.
As of now, the only healthy tight end on the Saints’ depth chart is Juwan Johnson. He’s a very capable weapon in the passing game, but he’s still adjusting to the position since he was originally a wide receiver.
Trautman is expected to be the No. 1 tight end for New Orleans this fall, so hopefully the team receives a positive update regarding his MRI. During his rookie season, he had 15 catches for 171 yards and a touchdown.
The Saints should provide updates on Trautman and Vannett in the near future.
