The Tampa Bay Buccaneers enter this offseason with a ton of money to spend, but they also have a plethora of question marks on their roster. Bruce Arians will have to sign a quarterback this offseason, and it appears he may target two veteran signal-callers.
James Winston is set to be an unrestricted free agent in March. This past season he threw for 5,109 yards and 33 touchdowns, but he also led the league with 30 interceptions. It'll be tough to commit to him for the long haul because of his inconsistency.
Tampa Bay could hand the keys to its offense to a trustworthy veteran this offseason though. Arians revealed that he'd pick up the phone to call Tom Brady and Phillip Rivers during free agency - if they're interested.
Both quarterbacks are nearing the end of their Hall of Fame careers, but Arians might see them as upgrades over Winston. On the other hand, Winston is significantly younger and his best football may be ahead of him.
Arians revitalized Carson Palmer's career during his time as the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals. Perhaps, he could have similar success with Rivers.
As for Brady, it'll be worth monitoring his situation in New England. The Patriots are the favorites to re-sign him this offseason, yet it does sound like he'll meet with other suitors.
There are other quarterbacks on the market, such as Ryan Tannehill and Teddy Bridgewater. However, the Buccaneers haven't expressed interest in either at the moment.
Free agency officially begins on March 18.
