Just a few days ago, Tom Brady made headlines with a comment about a team that opted to pass on him in free agency ahead of the 2020 season.

In a recent appearance on an episode of HBO's The Shop, Brady called out one specific NFL team. “One of the teams, they weren’t interested at the very end. I was thinking, ‘You’re sticking with that motherf–ker?’” Brady said.

In the days since the video came out, fans have been trying to pinpoint who exactly Brady was talking about. From Jimmy Garoppolo to Mitchell Trubisky, fans offered plenty of possible hypotheticals.

Well, ESPN's Jeff Darling may have given an intriguing option. He said Brady and the New Orleans Saints were very close to a deal.

Now fans are wondering if Brady was questioning the Saints for not moving on from Drew Brees in order to land Brady in free agency.

This would add an interesting dynamic to the rivalry between the Saints and the Buccaneers. Of course, Tom Brady and the Buccaneers took down Drew Brees and the Saints during their run to the Super Bowl last season.

Brees opted to retire after the 2020 season. Meanwhile, Brady is entering the final year of a two-year contract he signed with the Buccaneers ahead of the 2020 season.
