With the Tampa Bay Buccaneers coming off their bye and the Washington Football Team playing pedestrian football all year, most people seemed to believe that it would be an easy W for the defending Super Bowl champions. That isn’t the case today.
Washington have stunned Tampa Bay in one of the biggest upsets of the NFL season. And they pulled it off even after star pass rusher Chase Young suffered a game-ending injury.
Washington kept the Bucs off the scoresheet until the middle of the second quarter – already a rarity for Tom Brady and his high-octane offense. But they kept Brady himself from finding the endzone all the way until the middle of the quarter. And by then, Washington still led 16-13.
Running back Antonio Gibson did the heavy lifting for Washington, running the ball 24 times for 67 yards and two touchdowns. He gave Washington a 29-19 lead with 29 seconds remaining in the game, scoring a touchdown after a 19-play, 10:21 drive.
But more people are talking about how awful the Buccaneers were than how good the Washington Football Team was:
The Bucs had the clearest path imaginable to the 1 seed as long as they didn’t lose to any terrible teams… and they just got soundly beat by WFT.
Just an awful loss for the defending champs.

Bucs lose in DC. Back to back losses for the defending champs. Tom Brady has four picks in both games.

Gibson touchdown. That'll do it. Bucs lose their second straight and don't even score 20 against the league’s worst pass defense

The NFC is going to be a tough nut to crack this year. With the loss, the Buccaneers won’t be able to close the gap on the Cardinals, Cowboys and Packers today.
There are a lot of tough games on the horizon too. Winning the division is now a lot harder than it looked just a few hours ago.
What does this loss mean for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?
