It took Tom Brady exactly one season to win his first Super Bowl outside of New England and without the aid of Bill Belichick.

Now, after being forced to watch Brady succeed in Tampa Bay, Belichick will have to face his former star quarterback. The New England Patriots host the Buccaneers during the 2021 season.

One longtime Patriots star thinks it's "going to be awesome" to face off against his former teammate. Defensive back Devin McCourty is looking forward to the game against Brady.

“I think it’s going to be awesome,” McCourty said on NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football,” via ESPN’s Mike Reiss.

Here's more of what McCourty had to say.

“A guy that has had so much success in New England, obviously, and the centerpiece of all those Super Bowls and the great runs. I think it will be awesome, just for him coming back, and fans, and the team, everyone will get to give him his due. Whether it’s a video, anything they do, I think it will be just a great atmosphere in the locker room for people to just give him a huger thank you — because he’s been awesome.

I know he’s been awesome for me to play with for 10 years. Just how open he was to give me different nuggets about the game, teaching you what he’s learned. I think a lot of guy that shared a locker room with him appreciate him for that.”

The NFL has not announced the schedule for the 2021 season just yet. However, when it does, Patriots-Buccaneers will be one of the hottest selling tickets on the market.

We'll just have to wait and see if Belichick or Brady comes out on top.
