The Tampa Bay Buccaneers continued their championship festivities by traveling to Washington D.C. this week. It’s become an annual tradition for Super Bowl winners, although several teams skipped out on the opportunity during the prior presidency. Brady was among those who turned down the opportunity after his last championship with the New England Patriots.
During the Bucs’ visit on Tuesday, Brady had the opportunity to speak from a lectern to those in attendance. While doing so, he cracked a few jokes which clearly alluded to the latest U.S. presidential race in which Biden won by over seven million votes. Many still deny the election results, though, claiming former U.S. President Donald Trump actually did.
Brady: “Not a lot of people think we could win. In fact, 40 percent, still don’t think we won. You understand that, Mr. President?”
Biden: “I understand that.”
Brady: “You understand that, Mr. President?”
Take a look.

The Buccaneers quarterback didn’t stop there, though. He also cracked a joke about being called “Sleepy Tom” by Chicago Bears fans when he infamously forgot what down it was during Tampa Bay’s regular-season game against the Bears last season.
“We had a game in Chicago where I forgot what down it was,” Brady continued. “I lost track of one down in 21 years of playing. And they started calling me ‘Sleepy Tom.’ Why would they do that to me?”
Tom Brady was, of course, referring to Biden’s nickname he received from Trump during last year’s presidential race. Trump constantly called Biden “Sleepy Joe.”
It takes some courage to crack jokes like Brady did with the U.S. president standing just a few steps away. Such confidence is one of the biggest reasons why No. 12 has had so much success during his professional career.
