UPDATE: The alleged meeting did NOT actually take place, says Hanson.
He apologized for the mistake.
On Tuesday morning, Tom Brady announced his incredible run with the New England Patriots officially came to an end.
Brady took to his social media accounts to announce he would not return as the team's quarterback in 2020. According to multiple reports, Brady is expected to sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers later this week.
So how did Brady end up with the Buccaneers? Well, according to a recent report, he met with a few powerful people on Sunday that could have swayed his decision in the end.
According to NFL Network insider Scott Hanson, Brady met with former New York Yankees great Derek Jeter, Bill Gates and the owner of the Tampa Bay Lightning, Jeff Vinik. The four met at a steakhouse in Tampa, according to the report.
Jeter has a habit of breaking the hearts of Boston sports fans. It looks like he may have played a part in Brady stepping away from the Patriots.
We'll never know what truly went into Brady's decision, but the Buccaneers' plethora of receiving talent certainly didn't hurt.
Star wide receivers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin along with talented tight ends O.J. Howard and Cameron Brate give Brady four of the best weapons he's ever had.
