When the Arizona Cardinals take the field on Sunday for their game against the New Orleans Saints, one of the team's best players might not be there.

Star running back David Johnson missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday with apparent back and ankle injuries.

It's unclear if he'll be at practice on Friday afternoon, but the Cardinals have already announced his status for Sunday's game.

According to a statement from general manager Steve Keim, Johnson is a game-time decision.

Johnson entered last weekend's game against the New York Giants as an active participant. However, on his first carry of the game, he apparently tweaked a previously existing ankle injury and never came back into the game.

In his absence, the Cardinals stuck with the hot hand of second-year tailback Chase Edmonds - who dominated the Giants defensive front.

Edmonds had 27 carries for 126 rushing yards and three touchdowns during the game. With Johnson's status up in the air, it looks like Edmonds will have another chance to showcase his ability.

New Orleans boasts one of the best run-defenses in the NFL, though, so it will be tough sledding.

Arizona and New Orleans kick off at 1:00 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on CBS.
