The Arizona Cardinals could be without their most dynamic playmaker on Sunday when they face the New Orleans Saints. For the second time this week, running back David Johnson missed practice.

Johnson has been dealing with an ankle injury the past few weeks. He's also been nursing a back issue during that time.

Last weekend, the Cardinals didn't get many touches out of Johnson because of his injuries. Nonetheless, second-year tailback Chase Edmonds had the best performance of his young career.

Edmonds had 27 carries for 126 rushing yards and three touchdowns against the New York Giants.

Well, it's looking as if Edmonds will get another chance to shine this weekend.

According to Cardinals reporter Josh Weinfuss, Johnson was not on the field for the open portion of practice today.

Arizona will release its injury report later today, but at this point it appears that Johnson will not participate.

The Cardinals are riding a three-game winning streak despite not having Johnson at full strength.

In an effort to prepare for this weekend without Johnson, the front office signed veteran running backs Zach Zenner and Alfred Morris.

Friday's practice could decide whether or not Johnson is active this weekend. It's hard to envision him suiting up on Sunday if he doesn't practice throughout the week.
