It appears that Colin Cowherd has chosen Kyler Murray as the next quarterback he wants to criticize and go after. But unlike some of his targets, Murray is fighting back hard.

After Cowherd compared Murray's recent behavior to Aaron Rodgers during today's episode of The Herd, Murray responded. Taking to Twitter, Murray skewered Cowherd for doubting his work ethic.

"Run whatever narratives y’all wanna run with… but questioning my work ethic, we not going for. Stop playin’ w/ me Colin. I still rock w/ you but cmon," Murray tweeted.

The Arizona Cardinals quarterback has found no shortage of support on Twitter. His replies and quote tweets are filled with people cheering him on for going after the Fox Sports talk show host:

The genesis of this controversy is Kyler Murray's alleged falling out with the Arizona Cardinals. Colin Cowherd addressed Murray's status in Arizona and started comparing him to Aaron Rodgers.

Among the things Cowherd said about Murray is that it's "harder to build a culture around him" and that he's too "aloof."

But it was Cowherd's claims about Murray's work ethic that really pushed things over the edge.

All of this might wind up being a non-issue when all is said and done anyway. The Cardinals have given no indication that they're prepared to trade their Pro Bowl quarterback.

Will Kyler Murray have the last word on this beef with Colin Cowherd?
