Last weekend, star running back Todd Gurley missed Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers.
Gurley was limited in practice much of the week with a thigh contusion before the game. Unfortunately for the Rams, that injury hasn’t gone away, but the team received some positive news on Thursday afternoon.
Head coach Sean McVay revealed Gurley planned to practice in a limited capacity this afternoon. He also updated the status of backup running back Malcolm Brown.
Here’s what he had to say, via ESPN’s Rams insider Lindsey Thiry:
“Todd is making good progress. He participated in the walk through, he’s going to continue to do some stuff at practice and then with Malcolm, he’ll be day-to-day and we’ll just kind of keep our eye on that, but he won’t practice today..It’s hard to say, he’s questionable for the game. I think you want to see some progress to be able to feel good about it.”
Brown filled in as the team’s starter on Sunday without Gurley on the field. He managed 40 yards on the ground against one of the stingiest defenses in the NFL, but was out-produced by rookie Darrell Henderson.
If Brown is forced to miss time, Henderson will likely see an uptick in reps – even if Gurley is able to go.
Los Angeles faces off against the Atlanta Falcons. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. ET on FOX.
