Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley signed a lucrative contract extension before the 2018 season. Now, he might get traded.

According to NFL.com's Mike Silver, Gurley's name is coming up in trade talks. The three-time Pro Bowler and two-time first team All-Pro is only 25, but saw his production nosedive last season.

Gurley's left knee was a problem late in the 2018 season and throughout the Rams' run to the Super Bowl. Last March, he was diagnosed with arthritis in the knee.

In 15 starts last fall, Gurley rushed for a career-low 857 yards on 223 carries. He still managed 12 touchdowns, but was not his usual self.

In fact, Silver wrote back in December that the Rams might be ready to pull the plug on Gurley.

Gurley's rookie deal is officially up. His four-year extension has kicked in, meaning he won't be a free agent until after the 2023 season, though there is an out on his deal after 2021.

There's already been one highly-paid back traded today in David Johnson, who was sent from Arizona to Houston as part of the DeAndre Hopkins trade. We'll see if Gurley will also be dealt at some point.
